Jan Gleysteen Architects recently attended the “Eve of the Gilded Age” architectural symposium in Newport, Rhode Island. Lectures and house tours focused on the residential architecture of Newport from 1830 to 1880 – works which set the stage for the Gilded Age of the late 19th century. Speakers included Richard Guy Wilson, John R. Tschirch, and Ron Onorato with tours of Kingscote, Malbone, Gravel Court, and Morris House.
In it’s sixth year, the annual event was hosted and organized by the International Tennis Hall of Fame on the grounds of McKim, Mead and White’s Newport Casino. To learn more about the organization visit their website or visit their newly renovated museum and historic grounds.
